Aylwin, Herbert

Details of many of the large Blackheath houses and estates are given in Neil Rhind's 'The Heath'. He also has also compiled a list of Blackheath residents, which in general means householders, not their staff; but Herbert Aylwin is listed as the occupant of 2 Manor Way from 1922 to 1937. This was one of the lodges on the Cator Estate, otherwise known as Blackheath Park, maybe Mr Aylwin retired to the position of lodge keeper when he became too old for gardening. The Cators themselves did not live at Blackheath.
